There are not many holiday destinations in the world that can boast of having "something for everyone" - but the Gold Coast is one.

The Gold Coast is one of Queensland's premier tourism destinations, offering everything from fashion and food to adventure and aquatics.

Undoubtedly the Gold Coast is best known for its 70 kilometres of golden beaches. Surfers worship them and tourists are left in awe at their brilliance. However, there is also an undiscovered world of experiences waiting to be discovered in the hinterland.

The hinterland region is home to a 54-kilometre walk from Green Mountains through the Lamington National Park to the picturesque Numinbah Valley and Springbrook escarpment. It is also home to some of Queensland's most amazing wine and food produce, as well as world-class accommodation.

For young and old, the Gold Coast's ever expanding theme parks have a magical appeal. The Gold Coast is the theme-park capital of Australia, attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists each year.

The Gold Coast has always been known for thinking big and if it isn't a new state-of-the art hotel, it's investment in new transport. The $100 million refurbishment of the Gold Coast Airport will provide visitors with a wonderful experience from the moment they land to the moment they depart.

Queensland is blessed to have an asset such as the Gold Coast - we are even luckier to be able to share it with the world.

How to get there

Getting to the Gold Coast has never been easier. With a $100 million refurbishment under way, the Gold Coast Airport is continuing to expand to cope with expected passenger-growth numbers. About 3.9 million passengers pass through the airport every year, arriving on 296 domestic and 18 international flights a week. Qantas runs 14 flights from Sydney each week, Jetstar 65 and Virgin Blue 83. Tiger Airways runs 21 flights from Melbourne each week, Jetstar 53 and Virgin Blue 47.
